Not knowing much about my first Lotus, and after being restored, at a West Coast Lotus event, while drive around Lake Tahoe. A rear wheel had loosened. No hammer?? Had to use a 2+4 and a bolder to tighten the spinner.
Thinking there has got a better way than beating on my car with a hammer. My first attempt to eliminate the need to use a hammer, I purchased the only tool I could find, and it bent the tips off and failed. I had a museum wall of failures trying to get the tool’s angles with a protective covering. To finally finishing a steel Lotus Elan, knock off tool without using a hammer.
I made the tool for myself and for other Elan guys. Later, others needing a tool to fit on the two eared type spinners. I was finally able to make a two-ear steel tool that fit both the 42 size and a 52 size for Jaguars. It turned out to be too expensive.
Jay Leno was restoring two Lotus Elans and used my Elan tools. He surprised me when he did a video on how my Lotus Elan tool that fit his Cobra. Fire destroyed all the jigs and equipment. I’m now manufacturing new tools made with CNC designed tools in aluminum that protect the spinners and cars. Go to the HOME page to see all the tools Kits.
They fit 2 ear 42 size, 52 size Jaguars, ear-less Jaguars, Ferrari 3 ear, Ferrari two ear, and the Cobra/GT40 3 ear Kits.
Here are many different pictures of spinners that use 2 eared 42 size type spinners. There many other cars that use the same type spinners.
Here are other type spinners that fit my current tool kits. They are used on other cars that use that type of spinner.
Borrani 2 ear and 3 ear spinners that fit Ferrari, Masarati, Lamborghini, Jaguar 2 ear and Jaguar ear-less spinners and finally Cobras and GT40 three eared spinners. I no longer make the Lotus Elan three eared spinners. John at R.D. Enterprises has continued to make my Elan tools.
